Work completed at Haystack

Just returned from studying with SAIC instructor Fraser Taylor at Haystack Mountain School of Arts & Crafts. Check out some of the stuff I worked on while there -

'Stitching Time' at Haystack show. Cotton, monoprint, hand lettering, nylon screen, stitching. This piece continues dealing with the recording of snatches of dialogue that are then assembled into a calendar format. Occasional hand stitching of numbers begin to record events that occur on those days.

A huge thanks to the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County for the just received grant to develop an upcoming body of work. The work series is entitled " A Life Seen In Sleep". The drawings will document the unfolding of the central character's lifespan with snapshots of her life when she is sleeping. The variations in postures, positions, and surroundings will develop the narrative of her life.
Thank you

Working title - 'Float', graphite on paper, approx. 4 feet by 3 feet. Dealing with the contrast of floating and oppressing. Still developing this lead character who is trying to navigate the challenges of life. Now she has this side-kick. The doll will likely be in paint and her unfailing smile and doll like innocence will provide a nice foil for the lead girl. Paint should support this contrast in relation to pencil/black & white of lead character.
